If your AI video on vswp fails or is canceled, you don't lose your Telegram Stars: they come back to your vswp balance automatically, and you don't need to ask anyone. Stars are taken only when a render starts, so a render that never finishes costs you nothing in the end. A video that did finish is different: making it again is a new take, which is a new render with its own price.
When are your Stars taken?
On vswp, every full video is paid in Telegram Stars (⭐). Before anything is charged, the app shows you the price and the estimated time. The price depends on the length of the part, the quality (480p or 720p) and the number of people you replace.
The Stars leave your balance at one moment only: when the render starts, after you press Create the full video. Everything before that is free: signing in with Telegram, uploading a video or picking one from Trends, and the automatic search for people in it.
What happens if a render fails or is canceled?
Generative AI sometimes can't finish a video. When that happens, or when a render is canceled, vswp returns the Stars it took for that render to your vswp balance on its own. There is no form to fill in and no waiting for a support reply.
The returned Stars stay on your balance in vswp, ready for the next video. You can start again right away with the same video and photos, or change something first.
Here is how the common cases compare:
| What happened | What happens to your Stars |
|---|---|
| The render failed | Returned to your balance automatically |
| The render was canceled | Returned to your balance automatically |
| The video finished | The render is done and paid |
| You make another take of a finished video | A new render with its own price |
What about the free preview?
Every new user gets one free preview: about 5 seconds of their video at 480p, with a small "vswp.app" mark. It costs no Stars, but the same rule applies to the free try itself. If the preview fails or is canceled, you get the free try back and can press Make the free preview again.
Keep in mind that the number of free previews per day is limited across the service. If the limit is reached when you try again, the app says when the next one frees up. Our guide on how the free preview works covers it in detail.
What should you do after a failed render?
- Check your balance. The ⭐ balance next to your account on the site shows the returned Stars.
- Look at what you sent. Make sure each photo is on the right person's card and that the part of the video you chose is the one you want.
- Decide whether to change anything. If the video or the photos are hard for the AI (see below), adjusting them first gives the next render a better chance.
- Start again. The app shows the price and the estimated time again before the new render starts.
Why can a render fail, and how do you lower the odds?
There is no single cause, and you don't need to guess: the Stars come back either way. Still, a clear setup usually goes more smoothly and gives a better result. A few habits help:
- Use a sharp video where people are easy to see. People who appear very briefly or are heavily blurred may not be found. See how to choose a video for an AI swap.
- Use good photos. One person per photo, sharp, in good light, with the whole face visible, as JPEG, PNG or WebP. Our guide on the best photos for an AI video swap explains why.
- Pick a calmer part of a long video. vswp works with a part of up to 30 seconds. Very fast camera motion and crowded scenes are harder.
- Stay within the limits. Uploads are 1 to 120 seconds long and up to 150 MB, in any common format.
What if the video finished but you don't like it?
A finished video counts as a completed render, even if the face doesn't look quite right or a hand looks odd. The automatic return covers renders that fail or are canceled, not results you would like to change.
This is generative AI, not frame-exact editing, so likeness, hands, things covering faces and very fast moves can need another take. Pressing Create video again makes a new take: a new render with its own price, and every take comes out a little different.
Before you make one, change the thing most likely to help:
- The photo, if the face doesn't read as the person. Our guide on what to do when a face swap doesn't look like you lists the usual fixes.
- The part of the video, if the trouble is in fast moves or crowds. See hands, fast moves and crowds in an AI video swap.
- The "Keep the original look" setting, if the clothes or hair aren't what you expected. On, clothes stay as in the video; off, the look comes from the photo.
How do you avoid surprises with Stars?
- Read the price before you press the button. It always appears first, so you can shorten the part, choose 480p or replace fewer people.
- Start with the free preview if you haven't used it yet. It shows how your photos work in your video before you spend anything.
- Top up only through @vswpapp_bot or the top-up button on vswp. Our guide to Telegram Stars explains how packs work.
By pressing Create video you confirm you have the right to use the video and the photos, so ask people before you put their photo into a video.
