To make a New Year greeting video with AI, pick a short festive clip, add a clear photo of each person who should appear in it, and let AI swap them into the scene while the moves, camera, lighting and sound stay as in the original. In vswp, that takes a video from Trends or your own upload, up to 6 photos, and usually a few minutes per video, so you can make greetings for family, friends and coworkers in one evening.
What makes a good New Year greeting video?
A greeting people remember is short, personal and easy to watch on a phone. Generic cards with fireworks arrive by the hundred on December 31; a video where your friend, your parents or your whole team are the stars of a scene stands out. Some ideas that work well:
- You, wishing everyone a happy New Year. Put yourself into a party scene, a toast or a dance, and send the same video to everyone.
- The family in one scene. Parents, kids and grandparents in a festive movie moment, one photo each.
- The friend group's year in a joke. A meme or trend your friends kept sending all year, with all of you in it.
- The team greeting. Coworkers in a dance or a celebration scene, as a light end to the work year.
- A personal one for someone far away. The person you miss most as the hero of their favorite scene.
How do you pick the scene?
Start with the people, then look for a clip that fits them. Party scenes, dances, toasts and big celebrations from films and music videos all work, as long as the clip shows the main people clearly.
- One strong moment. A new video covers one part of up to 30 seconds. In a longer upload, choose the part with the toast, the chorus or the big entrance.
- Faces large and visible. Faces turned away, covered by glasses, hats or hands, or tiny in a crowd are harder to get right. Very fast camera motion can need another take.
- The right number of people. One video can use up to 6 different photos. Everyone without a photo stays as in the original, so the crowd at a party stays as it is.
The fastest start is Trends: popular videos with the people already found. You can also upload your own clip: 1 to 120 seconds, up to 150 MB, in any common format. Only use a video you have the right to use.
Which photos do you need?
One sharp, evenly lit photo per person, with that person alone and the whole face visible. Skip sunglasses, heavy filters and crops from group shots. Then decide on the Keep the original look switch:
| Keep the original look | What changes | Photo you need |
|---|---|---|
| On | Face and hair; clothes stay as in the clip | A clear portrait is enough |
| Off | Face, hair and clothes come from the photo | A full-body photo of one person |
For a scene with party outfits, costumes or festive sweaters you like, keep it on. If you want everyone in their own clothes, turn it off and use full-body photos. How to make the greeting, step by step
- Start a few days before December 31. Each video takes minutes, but collecting photos from family or a team can take longer, and you may want another take.
- Sign in. Open vswp.app and sign in with Telegram. There is no password, and the people in the video don't need an account.
- Pick the scene. Choose a video from Trends or upload yours. For an upload, the person search runs on the first 30 seconds, usually takes a couple of minutes and is free. For a longer clip, pick another part of up to 30 seconds.
- Add the photos to the cards of the people they should replace. Main people come first; people seen briefly or far away are grouped as the background.
- Set the look with "Keep the original look".
- Try the free preview. If you haven't used yours yet, "Make the free preview" shows about 5 seconds at 480p with a small "vswp.app" mark.
- Make the full video. Choose 480p or 720p, check the estimated time and price, and press "Create the full video". Paid videos have no mark.
- Watch it before sending. If a face doesn't look quite right, pressing "Create video" again makes a new take, which is a new render.
How do you add a greeting and send it?
The result is an MP4 of the processed part, up to 30 seconds, with the original sound. vswp doesn't add text, so put your wishes around the video:
- In the message. Send the MP4 in Telegram or another messenger with a few lines of your own.
- On top of the video. Add "Happy New Year!" and the year in your phone's video editor or in the stories editor.
- Right at midnight. Have the file ready on your phone and share it when the clock strikes, or schedule the message if your messenger allows it.
- On the TV. Play it at the family dinner or office party before midnight, with the sound on.

What about consent?
Ask before you use anyone's photo, including relatives and coworkers. Send a greeting with someone's face to them first, and post it publicly only if everyone in it is happy with that. Pressing "Create video" confirms that you have the right to use the video and the photos. Rules differ by country and this is not legal advice; in the EU, the AI Act's rule on disclosing deepfakes applies from August 2026, so if you post the video, say it was made with AI. More in face swap consent and safety.
What does it cost?
The free preview costs nothing; the number of free previews per day is limited, and the app says when the next one frees up. The full video is paid in Telegram Stars (⭐). The price depends on length, quality and the number of people you swap, and the exact price is shown before you start. Stars are taken when a render starts and come back automatically if it fails or is canceled.
