You can swap a whole group of friends into one video by giving each person in the clip a different friend's photo: AI then redraws all of them at once, while the moves, camera, lighting and sound stay as in the original. In vswp, one video takes up to 6 different photos, and everyone without a photo stays as they were. The key to a good group result is a clip where every person you replace is clearly visible.

How many people can you swap in one video?

Up to six. A video can use up to 6 different photos, one per friend, in JPEG, PNG or WebP. You don't have to fill every role: replace two people out of five, and the other three stay as in the original.

That makes a few setups possible:

  • The whole cast. A band, a dance crew or a dinner table where every seat goes to someone from your group.
  • Part of the cast. Your friends take the main roles, and the extras stay.
  • Mixed groups. Friends, family and the birthday person in one scene, each on their own role.

Which group videos work best?

A group clip is harder than a solo one, because every face has to be visible enough for the AI to work with. Look for:

  • Everyone reasonably large. Each person you replace should take up a fair part of the frame, not stand far behind the others.
  • Faces that don't hide each other. People who keep stepping in front of each other, hugging face to face or turning away for long stretches give the AI less to show.
  • A calm camera. Steady shots or slow moves. Fast pans across a group blur the faces at the edges.
  • The key moment within 30 seconds. Each video covers one part of up to 30 seconds with the original sound.
Easier group clip Harder group clip
Two to six people, all close to the camera A crowd where your friends are small figures
Everyone mostly facing the camera People turned away or in profile most of the time
People standing side by side People constantly crossing in front of each other
A steady or slow camera Whip pans and quick cuts between faces

Our guide on how to choose a video that works for an AI person swap goes deeper into what makes a clip easy or hard.

How to swap a group, step by step

  1. Collect one photo per friend. Each photo should show just that person, sharp and in good light. Ask everyone first, and ask again before you post.
  2. Sign in. Open vswp.app and sign in with Telegram. Your friends don't need an account.
  3. Pick the video. Choose one from Trends, where the people are already found, or upload your own: 1 to 120 seconds, up to 150 MB. The person search runs on the first 30 seconds automatically, usually in a couple of minutes, and it's free. In a longer video, you can choose another part of up to 30 seconds.
  4. Match photos to people. Put each friend's photo on the card of the person they should play.
  5. Choose the look. Turn "Keep the original look" on or off for the group.
  6. Start the render. Choose 480p or 720p, check the estimated time and the price, and press "Create video".

How do you put each friend on the right person?

vswp makes a card for every person it finds. The main people come first; people seen briefly or far away are grouped as the background. Before you add photos:

  • Play the clip once and decide who plays whom, especially if two people in the video look alike or wear similar clothes.
  • Check each card's picture against the person in the video, then drop the right friend's photo on it.
  • Leave a card empty for anyone who should stay as in the original.
  • Look over all the cards before you start. A photo on the wrong card is the most common group mistake, and it's easy to catch at this point.

People who appear only very briefly or are heavily blurred may not be found, so they can't get a photo. If a friend's role is one of them, pick a clip or a part where that person is clearer.

Same outfits or everyone's own look?

This choice applies to the whole group, so decide it together:

  • "Keep the original look" on. Clothes stay as in the video; only faces and hair change. It suits dance crews, uniforms, costumes and any scene where matching outfits are part of the joke. A good portrait of each friend is enough.
  • "Keep the original look" off. Each friend's clothes and hair come from their photo. Then everyone needs a full-body photo, because a portrait can't show clothing it doesn't contain. If one friend sends a selfie and the rest send full-body shots, that friend's outfit will be the AI's guess.

For a group, matching photo styles help: similar light, a clear face and just one person in each shot. See which photos work best for an AI video swap.

What if one friend doesn't look right?

In a group, it's common for most faces to come out well and one to miss. Pressing "Create video" again makes a new take of the whole video, which is a new render. Before you do, it's worth fixing the cause:

  1. Swap in a sharper, better-lit photo of that friend.
  2. Choose a part of the video where their role is larger and less covered.
  3. Make sure their photo is on the right card.

More fixes are in what to do when an AI face swap doesn't look like you.

Does a bigger group cost more?

Prices are in Telegram Stars (⭐) and depend on the length, the quality and the number of people you replace, so a bigger group usually costs more than a solo swap. The exact price is shown before you start. Stars are taken when a render starts and returned automatically if it fails or is canceled.

To test the cast first, make the free preview: about 5 seconds of your video at 480p, taken from where the people with photos are on screen, with a small vswp.app mark.

Does everyone need to agree?

Yes, every person whose photo you use. Ask each friend before you add their photo, and ask again before posting where strangers will see it. Pressing "Create video" confirms you have the right to use the video and the photos. For more on casting a trend, read how to recreate a trending video with your friends.

FAQ

Can I swap more than six people?

Not in one video: a video takes up to 6 different photos. Everyone else in the clip stays as in the original.

Do I have to replace everyone in the video?

No. Add photos only to the people you want to replace, and leave the other cards empty.

Can my friends send their photos to me?

Yes. Only the person making the video signs in with Telegram; friends just send a photo and agree to its use.

Why is one person in the group missing from the cards?

People who appear only very briefly or are heavily blurred may not be found. Try a part of the video where that person is larger and in view longer.

Will the group's music and voices stay?

Yes. The result keeps the original audio of the part you processed.
