A farewell video for a coworker made with AI puts the person who is leaving, or the whole team, into a famous scene: a movie goodbye, a dance everyone knows, the meme they always sent to the team chat. You pick the clip, add one photo per person, and AI swaps them in while the moves, camera, lighting and sound stay as in the original. In vswp that takes a few minutes per video, so you can prepare it during the last week, even if the news came late.
Why make a farewell video with AI?
A card signed by everyone is nice, but it ends up in a drawer. A short video is something the team can watch together at the farewell party or on the last video call, and the person leaving can keep it. It also works when the team is spread across offices and time zones: no one has to film anything, and everyone can still be in it with one photo.
Farewell video ideas for a coworker
- The team in a movie goodbye. A well-known farewell scene from a film, with the person leaving and two or three close colleagues in it.
- Their favorite meme, starring them. If they always answered in one meme or GIF, put them into it. It will make sense to everyone who worked with them.
- The team in a dance trend. Pick a dance from Trends and give each colleague a card, for a send-off that ends the party on a laugh.
- The office without you. One clip of the team in a chaotic comedy scene, as if things fall apart the day after they leave.
- A greeting from remote colleagues. People who can't come to the party each send a short clip of themselves in a scene the person leaving loves.
- A send-off into the next job. The person leaving as the hero walking into a big entrance scene, as a wish of luck at the new place.

How do you keep it right for work?
A farewell video is seen by the whole team, sometimes by managers, so keep the joke kind:
- Laugh with them, not at them. Choose scenes that make the person look good or that share a joke they started themselves.
- Avoid sensitive topics. Leave out the reasons for leaving, salaries, conflicts and anything that would embarrass someone in front of colleagues.
- Check where it can be shared. Your company may have rules on posting photos of staff or using internal channels. A private team chat is usually the safer place.
- Ask a close colleague. If you are not sure the person likes surprises, check with someone who knows them well.
How many colleagues can be in one video?
One video can use up to 6 different photos, one per person. Everyone without a photo stays as in the original, so in a crowd scene only the people you choose change. For a bigger team, make two or three short videos, each with its own small group, and play them in a row. Our guide to swapping a whole group of friends into one video shows how to assign photos to people.
Which photos should you collect?
Ask each colleague for one sharp photo of themselves alone, in good light, with the whole face visible and no sunglasses. A recent photo is better than a cropped badge picture. Then choose "Keep the original look":
- On. The clothes from the scene stay, and only faces and hair change. A clear portrait is enough. This is the easy choice for movie scenes and costumes.
- Off. Clothes, hair and silhouette come from the photos. Use a full-body photo, because a portrait cannot show clothing it doesn't contain.

How do you make it, step by step?
- Start a few days before the last day. Each video takes minutes, but collecting photos from a busy team can take longer.
- Sign in. Open vswp.app and sign in with Telegram. There's no password, and only the person making the video needs an account.
- Pick the scene. Choose a video from Trends, where the people are already found, or upload your own: 1 to 120 seconds, up to 150 MB, any common format. The person search runs on the first 30 seconds automatically, usually in a couple of minutes, and it's free. In a longer video, choose another part of up to 30 seconds.
- Add the photos to the cards of the people they should replace. Main people come first; people seen briefly or far away are grouped as the background.
- Set the look with "Keep the original look".
- Check the free preview. If you haven't used yours, "Make the free preview" shows about 5 seconds at 480p with a small "vswp.app" mark.
- Make the full video. Check the estimated time and the price, choose 480p or 720p, and press "Create the full video". Paid videos have no mark.
- Watch it before the party. If a face looks off, pressing "Create video" again makes a new take, which is a new render.
How do you show it at the farewell?
You get an MP4 of the processed part, up to 30 seconds, with the original sound. vswp doesn't add text, so put the person's name or a short message in your phone's video editor if you want one.
- At the office or a bar, test the screen and the sound before people arrive.
- On a video call, share your screen with the computer's sound turned on, and try it once with a colleague first.
- Afterwards, send the MP4 to the person leaving, so they keep it after their work accounts are closed.
What about consent?
Ask before you use anyone's photo, including colleagues in the background of a clip you upload. Pressing "Create video" confirms you have the right to use the video and the photos. Rules differ by country, and this is not legal advice; in the EU, the AI Act's disclosure rule for deepfakes applies from August 2026, so label the video as AI-made if you publish it. More in face swap consent and safety.
How much does it cost?
The free preview costs nothing. The full video is paid in Telegram Stars (⭐). The price depends on the length, the quality and the number of people you replace, and the exact price is shown before you start. Stars are taken when a render starts and returned automatically if it fails or is canceled.
FAQ
Can I put the whole team into one farewell video?
Up to 6 people per video, one photo each; everyone else in the scene stays as in the original. For a bigger team, make several short clips and play them in a row.
Can colleagues who work remotely be in the video?
Yes. They only need to send a photo, so it doesn't matter where they are. You can also show the finished video on a video call by sharing your screen with sound.
Does the person leaving need to sign up?
No. Only the person who makes the video signs in with Telegram. The others just send their photos, with their permission.
Can I make the farewell video on my phone?
Yes. vswp works in the browser on phones and computers, and on a phone you can share the finished MP4 straight to Telegram and other apps.
