What is the Three Steps Above Heaven trend?

In the film, Hache (Mario Casas), a rebel who races motorbikes, falls for Babi (María Valverde), a girl from a strict, wealthy family. In its club scene he watches from the upper level and spots her dancing below.

The AI trend replays that moment with other people: someone leans on a railing above the dance floor, and the camera drops into the crowd to find the one they are watching, often alone in a white spotlight. Couples, friends, parents and coworkers take the two places.

Where does the original video come from?

The scene is from Tres metros sobre el cielo, directed by Fernando González Molina and released in Spain in December 2010; in English it is Three Steps Above Heaven. It is the second film of Federico Moccia's Italian novel Tre metri sopra il cielo, after the Italian one of 2004. In its club scene the song is "La tormenta de arena" by the Spanish band Dorian.

In 2026 the scene became an AI template on TikTok, Reels and Shorts; by late September Russian tech sites were publishing how-tos for it as «Три метра над уровнем неба». No first AI video is known, so the film itself is the source. The 20-second clip on vswp is one of these remakes, not footage from the film.

Who and what is in it?

Two people, each in their own shots, so one photo per role is enough.

• The guy at the bar. The clip opens close on him: a black T-shirt, a lanyard around his neck, arms crossed on a metal railing, shelves of bottles glowing behind him in warm, dim light. He looks off to the side with a slight smile.
• The girl. She takes over the scenes that follow. In the trend's story she is the one he has spotted, the Babi to his Hache.

How to make the Three Steps Above Heaven trend with AI

Which photo for each role?

• The guy at the bar needs a clear face. He is close to the camera in low light, so use a sharp, well-lit photo without sunglasses. One turned slightly to the side matches his pose.
• Check his hands. They rest on the railing in plain view, and AI can get hands wrong, so check the preview.
• The girl, full body if you can. In the trend she is found in a crowd, a hard part for AI. A full-body photo carries clothes, hair and silhouette best; with only a portrait, keep the original look on.
