What is the Spider-Man Sigma trend?
It's a real school lunchroom turned into a movie scene. Everyone who grew up on the Tobey Maguire films knows the moment: Peter Parker, the morning after the spider bite, sits in the cafeteria when Mary Jane walks by with her tray, and his new reflexes kick in. The trend borrows that setup with ordinary students, an ordinary lunch and a phone camera.
"Sigma" is internet slang for the calm, self-assured loner, and Tobey Maguire's Peter Parker has long been a favorite subject of "sigma" edits on TikTok. Put together, the name promises the quiet kid at the table having his movie moment. People search for it as Spider-Man Sigma, the Spider-Man cafeteria scene trend, the Spider-Man tray trend and, in Russian, «тренд Человек-паук в столовой».
Where does the original video come from?
The scene it plays on is from Spider-Man (2002), directed by Sam Raimi, with Tobey Maguire as Peter Parker and Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane Watson. The lunch tray moment is one of the best-remembered bits of the film and keeps coming back on TikTok as clips, edits and recreations, including AI templates of the cafeteria scene.
The clip on vswp is a recreation filmed in a real school cafeteria: menu screens above the serving counter, long tables with fixed benches, students in hoodies. Who filmed it and where it was first posted has not been confirmed, so this page describes only what the clip shows.
Who and what is in it?
vswp found six people in the clip, and you can replace any of them. The poster frame shows the main ones:
- The boy in the foreground. Seen from behind and out of focus, in a brown sweater, sitting at a table and facing the aisle. The camera looks past his shoulder, so the scene plays out from where he sits.
- The girl with the tray. Long blond hair, a fitted black top, light jeans and sneakers. She walks down the aisle holding a tray with a red apple and a carton of milk.
- The students at the tables. A boy in a dark green hoodie eating at the next table, a seated student in a pink sweater on the left, a boy in a light grey hoodie and a boy in a black sweatshirt carrying his own tray behind her.
The clip runs about 23 seconds. The room, the tables, the food and the background students without a photo stay as filmed.
How to make the Spider-Man cafeteria scene with AI
- Open the Spider-Man Sigma trend and sign in with Telegram. There is no password.
- All six people are already found. Give a photo (JPEG, PNG or WebP) to each card you want to replace: just yourself as the boy or the girl, or the whole table with friends.
- Decide on "Keep the original look". On, the hoodies, sweaters and the black top stay and only faces and hair change; off, the clothes come from your photos.
- Press "Make the free preview" to see about 5 seconds at 480p with a small "vswp.app" mark; every new user gets one.
- Press "Create the full video". The price in Telegram Stars depends on the length, quality and number of people and is shown before you start; the Stars come back if a render fails or is canceled.
- Download the MP4 at 480p or 720p with the original sound, typically ready in minutes.
By starting a video you confirm you have the right to use it and the photos, so ask your friends before you put them in. More clips are in the trends list.
Which photo for each role?
- The girl: full body. She is seen from head to toe walking toward the camera, so a full-body photo of one person carries her silhouette and, with "Keep the original look" off, your own outfit.
- The boy in the foreground: hair and shoulders. He is mostly the back of a head and a shoulder, so the hair in your photo matters more than the face. Pick a photo where your hairstyle is clearly visible.
- The students at the tables: sharp faces. They are small in the frame, so a sharp, front-facing photo in good light works better than a dark selfie.
- One person per photo. Crop a class photo so each picture shows only the person for that card.
- Hands, trays and food. Things held in the hands and quick movements near the tray are hard for generative AI; if something looks off, another take usually helps.
