To swap people in your own video, sign in to vswp with Telegram, choose "Upload your video", and pick a clip from 1 to 120 seconds long, up to 150 MB, in any common format. vswp then finds the people in the first 30 seconds for free, usually in a couple of minutes. Add a photo to each person you want to replace, check the price, and start with the free preview or the full video.
What kind of video can you upload?
Almost any clip from your phone, camera or computer works, as long as it fits these limits:
- Length: 1 to 120 seconds.
- Size: up to 150 MB.
- Format: any common video format.
Each new video is made from one part of up to 30 seconds, with the original sound of that part. A longer upload is fine; you just pick which 30 seconds or less to use.
Upload only videos you have the right to use: your own footage, clips friends filmed and agreed to share, or videos whose owner allows it. If you'd rather skip this step, the Trends library has popular videos with the people already found.
How do you get the file ready?
A minute of preparation saves most failed uploads and weak results:
- Trim it. Cut the clip to 120 seconds or less around the moment you care about. If your moment is in the first 30 seconds, the automatic search covers it right away.
- Check the size. 4K or high-frame-rate recordings reach 150 MB fast. The result is 480p or 720p at up to about 30 frames per second, so a lighter export loses nothing in the final video.
- Keep the orientation you'll post. The swap keeps the original camera, so a vertical clip gives a vertical result.
- Look at the faces. The people you replace should be clearly visible for most of the part: large in the frame, in decent light, not covered for long. Our guide on how to choose a video for an AI swap goes through this in detail.
What are the steps after you sign in?
- Open the upload. Choose "Upload your video" and pick the file. On a phone, keep the page open until the upload finishes; Wi-Fi helps with big files.
- Wait for the people search. vswp looks for people in the first 30 seconds of your clip. It's free and usually takes a couple of minutes.
- Choose another part if needed. If your moment comes later, choose another part of up to 30 seconds. Tips are in how to pick the best 30 seconds.
- Read the people cards. The main people come first. People seen briefly or far away are grouped as the background.
- Add photos. Put a photo on the card of each person you want to replace: up to 6 different photos per video, as JPEG, PNG or WebP. Everyone without a photo stays as in the original.
- Choose the look. With "Keep the original look" on, clothes stay as in the video and only faces and hair change. Off, the clothes and hair come from the photo.
- Check the price and start. The app shows the estimated time and the price before you start.
Which person cards should get a photo?
You don't have to replace everyone. Give photos only to the people who should become someone else, and leave the rest alone: they keep their faces from the original.
A few things to know about the cards:
- The main people are listed first, so the person you probably want is near the top.
- The background group collects people seen for a moment or far away. Swapping a face that is tiny for most of the clip rarely shows much.
- Someone may be missing. People who appear very briefly or heavily blurred may not be found. Choose a part where they are on screen longer and clearer.
For clips with several people, see how to swap a whole group of friends into one video.
What photo works best for your own video?
One person per photo, sharp, in good light, with the face fully visible and no filters. If "Keep the original look" is off, use a full-body photo: it carries clothing, hair and silhouette best, and a portrait cannot show clothing it doesn't contain. The full checklist is in which photos work best for an AI video swap.
Ask before you use anyone else's photo, and only put people into videos they would be happy to see.
Should you try the free preview first?
If you're new to vswp, yes. Press "Make the free preview" to get about 5 seconds of your video at 480p, taken from where the people with photos are on screen, with a small "vswp.app" mark. It shows how your photos look in your own footage before you pay. If it fails, the free try comes back. More in how the free preview works.
The full video is "Create the full video". It's paid in Telegram Stars (⭐); the price depends on the length, the quality (480p or 720p) and the number of people, and the exact price is shown before you start. Stars are taken when a render starts and returned automatically if it fails or is canceled.
What do you get at the end?
An MP4 of the processed part, up to 30 seconds, with the original sound, at 480p or 720p; the frame rate follows your source, up to about 30 fps. Videos are typically ready in minutes. Download the file, or on a phone share it straight to Telegram, stories or other apps.
This is generative AI, not frame-exact editing. Likeness, hands, things covering faces, very fast camera motion and crowded scenes can need another take. Pressing "Create video" again makes a new take, which is a new render.
What if the upload doesn't work?
| Problem | What to try |
|---|---|
| The file is rejected | Check it's 1 to 120 seconds and up to 150 MB; trim or export it smaller |
| The moment you want isn't in the search | It covers the first 30 seconds; choose another part of up to 30 seconds |
| A person has no card | They may be on screen too briefly or too blurred; pick a part where they're clearer |
| A photo isn't accepted | Use JPEG, PNG or WebP |
