What is the Gangnam Style trend?
It is a front-camera clip of three friends squeezed together into one frame at night. They lean in close, pout, make faces at the lens and mouth along to the song, the way people film themselves on a night out in a city they are visiting. Office towers, a lit billboard and a blue street sign in Korean fill the background, and a large South Korean flag rises behind the friend on the right.
The appeal is simple: a well-known song, a trip mood and three faces that fill the screen. Three spots fit a group of three friends, and because the camera is so close, the result reads as your own selfie from a night out in Korea rather than a dance you had to learn.
Where does the original video come from?
"Gangnam Style" is a song by the South Korean singer PSY, named after Gangnam, a well-off district of Seoul. Its music video went up on YouTube on July 15, 2012, and on December 21, 2012 it became the first video to reach one billion views; its invisible-horse dance was copied all over the world. In Russian it is often written «Гангнам стайл», in Korean 강남스타일.
Who filmed this particular selfie, and where it was first posted, we could not confirm, so this page links no source. The street, the signs and the flag point to a Korean city, but the exact place is not stated anywhere we could check. vswp uses the clip as it is, with its own sound.
Who and what is in it?
Three people, each with a card:
- Left. Long black hair and a dark top; she leans in from the left edge and makes the most playful faces, pouting toward the lens.
- Center. Long dark wavy hair, hoop earrings and a black top; she is closest to the camera and in the middle of the frame for most of the clip.
- Right. Long dark hair and a white satin shirt with a high collar, right in front of the Korean flag; she smiles and sings along.
- The setting. A city street at night with towers, a billboard and a Korean street sign: the default background.
Each card follows its person through the whole clip, including the moments when heads turn or lean out of the frame.
How to make the Gangnam Style trend with AI
- Open the Gangnam Style trend and sign in with Telegram.
- Add photos (JPEG, PNG or WebP) to the left, center or right person, or to any combination of them.
- Decide on "Keep the original look". On, the night-out outfits stay and only faces and hair change; off, the look comes from each photo.
- To move the selfie to another city, fill in Background: describe a new place, upload its photo, or both. Empty fields keep the Korean street at night.
- Press "Make the free preview" to see about 5 seconds at 480p with a small "vswp.app" mark; every new user gets one.
- Press "Create the full video". The price in Telegram Stars is shown before you start, and the Stars come back if a render fails or is canceled.
- Download the MP4 at 480p or 720p with the original sound, or share it.
By starting a video you confirm you have the right to use the video and the photos, so ask your friends before using theirs. More scenes are in the trends list.
Which photo for each role?
- Center. She is the closest face to the lens, so likeness shows most here. Use your sharpest front-facing photo in even light, with no sunglasses or hair over the eyes.
- Left and right. Their faces turn and tilt more, so a photo with the face clearly visible matters more than a full body. A slight three-quarter angle works well.
- Hair. Even with "Keep the original look" on, hair changes: the long dark hair of the original becomes yours, so short hair or a bright color is fine.
- Expressions. The poses and pouts come from the clip, so a calm, natural photo is better than one where you already pull a face.
- The background photo. A night street or skyline fits the light of the clip best; people in that photo stay scenery and do not join the selfie.
Generative AI can drift when a face leans to the edge of the frame or is half covered by hair, so check those moments and the ending. More tips: best photos for an AI video swap.
