To put yourself into a movie scene, you need a short clip of the scene and a clear photo of yourself. In [vswp](/), you pick a scene from Trends or upload one you have the right to use, add your photo to the actor you want to replace, and AI generates a new video with you in the role. The camera, the lighting, the other actors and the sound stay as in the original.

## How does putting yourself into a movie scene work?

The AI doesn't paste your face onto the frames. It generates a new version of the scene in which you make the actor's moves, turn your head at the same moments and stand in the same light. Everyone you don't give a photo to stays as in the film, so your co-stars, the extras and the set look just as you remember them.

One thing surprises people: the sound is the original audio. If the actor speaks in the scene, you take over their mouth movements, but the voice is still theirs. Scenes carried by music, a look or a famous move often work better than long dialogue for that reason.

## Which movie scenes can you use?

Use only clips you have the right to use. By pressing "Create video" you confirm that you do, for the video and for the photos. Good places to start:

- **The Trends library.** Popular videos with the people already found, including well-known film scenes such as the [White Chicks car scene](/guides/white-chicks-ai-video/) and the [Three Steps Above Heaven club scene](/guides/three-steps-above-heaven-ai-trend/).
- **Your own short films.** A scene you shot with friends, a school project, a parody you filmed yourself.
- **Clips you got permission for,** from a friend or an independent filmmaker.

Films belong to studios and other rights holders. Rules differ by country and by platform, and this is not legal advice; when in doubt, keep the result private or ask the rights holder. You can browse all scenes in the [trends list](/trend/).

## What makes a scene work well?

vswp processes one part of up to 30 seconds per video, so pick the moment people know. For a clip you upload (1 to 120 seconds, up to 150 MB, any common format), the person search runs automatically on the first 30 seconds, usually in a couple of minutes, and it's free. In a longer clip, you can choose another part of up to 30 seconds.

A scene tends to give a better result when:

1. The actor you replace is large in the frame for most of the part, with the face visible.
2. The scene isn't very dark, smoky or heavily blurred.
3. The face isn't covered for long by hands, a helmet, a mask or another actor.
4. There are no very fast camera moves or chaotic fights.

Action sequences and crowded scenes are hard for generative AI and can need another take. Our guide on [how to choose a video for an AI swap](/guides/choose-a-video-for-ai-swap/) goes into more detail.

## Should you keep the character's costume?

That's the "Keep the original look" switch:

| | On | Off |
|---|---|---|
| What changes | Your face and hair | Your face, hair and clothes |
| Clothes come from | The film | Your photo |
| Good for | Iconic costumes, period films, uniforms | Appearing as yourself in the scene |
| Best photo | A sharp portrait | A full-body photo of just you |

Many scenes are remembered for the costume, so keeping it makes the moment instantly recognizable. A portrait can't show clothing it doesn't contain, so to wear your own outfit, use a full-body photo of one person. ## How to put yourself into a movie scene, step by step

1. Open [vswp.app](/) and sign in with Telegram. There's no password, and it works in the browser on a phone or a computer.
2. Pick a film scene from Trends, or upload your own clip.
3. Look through the people cards. The main people come first; those seen briefly or far away are grouped as the background.
4. Add your photo (JPEG, PNG or WebP) to the actor you want to replace. To cast friends as the other characters, add up to 6 different photos, one per person.
5. Set "Keep the original look", choose 480p or 720p, and check the estimated time and the price.
6. Press "Make the free preview" if it's your first time, or "Create the full video".
7. Download the MP4, or share it from your phone to Telegram, stories and other apps.

## Can you play a scene with a partner or friends?

Yes. Two-person scenes are some of the most fun to recast: a car ride, a dance, a dramatic goodbye. Give each person a photo on the right card and check the cards before you start, since a photo on the wrong card is the most common mistake. For ideas, see [how to put you and your partner into a romantic movie scene](/guides/couple-video-with-ai/).

## What does it cost and what do you get?

Prices are in Telegram Stars (⭐), paid through the bot @vswpapp_bot. The price depends on the length, the quality and the number of people you replace, and the exact price is shown before you start. Stars are taken when a render starts and returned automatically if it fails or is canceled.

Every new user gets one free preview: about 5 seconds of the scene where the people with photos are on screen, at 480p, with a small "vswp.app" mark. The full video is paid and has no mark.

The result is an MP4 of the processed part, up to 30 seconds, at 480p or 720p, with the original audio. The frame rate follows the source, up to about 30 fps, and videos are typically ready in minutes. Pressing "Create video" again makes a new take, which is a new render.

## Can you post your movie scene?

Sharing with friends is the easy part. Posting publicly needs more care: platforms may block copyrighted film clips, and many ask you to label AI-made content. In the EU, the AI Act's disclosure rule for deepfakes applies from August 2026. Read [how to post an AI video on TikTok, Reels and Shorts](/guides/post-ai-video-tiktok-reels-shorts/), and ask friends before you use their photos.

## FAQ

### Will I speak with my own voice in the scene?

No. The original audio stays, so you take over the actor's lines with their voice. Scenes driven by music or action often feel more natural than long dialogue.

### Can I keep the actor's costume?

Yes. Turn on "Keep the original look" and only your face and hair change, while the clothes stay as in the film.

### Can I put myself into a whole movie?

No. Each video covers one part of up to 30 seconds. Pick the moment that matters most, such as the famous line, the entrance or the dance.

### Why does my face look off in some shots?

Dark lighting, fast camera moves, things covering the face and crowded scenes are hard for generative AI. Try a part where you're larger and clearer, a sharper photo, or another take.
