To post an AI video on TikTok, Reels or Shorts, start from a vertical clip, save the result as an MP4, upload it like any other video, and turn on the platform's AI label before you publish. Add "made with AI" to the caption too, and post only videos where everyone shown agreed to appear in public. That keeps your post honest, lowers the chance it gets flagged, and still lets the joke land.

## Why does posting an AI video need extra care?

A realistic AI video can look like real footage to someone scrolling past. Platforms know this, so they ask creators to label realistic AI content, and they may add a label themselves or limit posts that hide it. Rules differ by country; in the EU, the AI Act's rule on disclosing deepfakes applies from August 2026. This is not legal advice, but labeling is the safe habit everywhere.

There is also the people in it. A friend who said yes to a video in the group chat did not necessarily say yes to a public post. Ask again before it goes out to strangers. Our guide to [face swap consent and safety](/guides/face-swap-consent-and-safety/) covers how.

## How do you make the video fit the format?

TikTok, Reels and Shorts are made for vertical video, and an AI person swap keeps the original camera. So the shape of your result is the shape of your source.

- **Pick a vertical video.** Most clips in vswp's [Trends](/trend/) come from short-video apps and are vertical already. If you upload your own, start from a vertical one. Our guide on [choosing a video for an AI swap](/guides/choose-a-video-for-ai-swap/) has more tips.
- **Keep it short.** vswp processes up to 30 seconds, which suits short-video feeds well. For a longer source, choose the part with the punchline.
- **Choose 720p for posting.** The result comes as an MP4 at 480p or 720p. Both upload fine; 720p looks sharper on a phone screen.
- **Mind the edges.** The app's buttons and caption cover the bottom and right side of the screen, so faces in the middle of the frame read best.

## How do you post it, step by step?

1. **Make the video.** On [vswp](/), pick a trend or upload your clip, add a photo for each person to replace, and press "Create video". The price and estimated time show before you start.
2. **Save it.** Download the MP4, or on a phone use Share to send it straight to the app you post in.
3. **Upload it as a new post.** Open TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, start a new video post, and pick the file from your gallery.
4. **Trim and add text.** Cut anything you don't need and add on-screen text if the joke needs setup.
5. **Turn on the AI label.** Find the platform's AI or "altered content" setting before you publish (see the table below).
6. **Write the caption.** Say it's AI-made, credit the original if it's a trend, and add a few relevant hashtags.
7. **Check who can see it.** Pick public, friends only, or private, and decide whether others may remix or duet it.

## Where is the AI label on each platform?

Menus move with app updates, so treat this as a starting point and check the app's help if you can't find the setting.

| Platform | Where to look |
|---|---|
| TikTok | Before posting, in the more options or advanced settings, a switch for AI-generated content |
| Instagram Reels | In the advanced settings of the post, an option to add an AI label |
| YouTube Shorts | In the upload details, a question about altered or synthetic content |

If a platform labels your video on its own, leave the label on. Don't crop out or blur marks when you repost someone else's AI video either.

## What should you write in the caption?

Keep it short and plain. A good caption does three things:

- **Says it's AI.** "Made with AI", "AI face swap" or "we put ourselves in this trend with AI" is enough.
- **Credits the source.** If you used a trend, a film scene or a music video, name it or tag the original creator.
- **Helps people find it.** A few hashtags such as #aivideo plus the trend's name work better than a long list.

## Will the sound stay, and is the music allowed?

Yes, the sound stays: vswp keeps the original audio of the part you processed, so the trend's song is already in the file. Whether you may publish that song is a separate question. The music and footage still belong to whoever made them, and platforms may mute or remove public posts with copyrighted music or film clips.

If the song is in the app's own music library, one option is to add it from there and lower the original sound. Use your own footage or clips you're allowed to use whenever you can. By pressing "Create video", you confirm you have the right to use the video and the photos.

## Can you post the free preview?

You can, but it's short, it's 480p, and it carries a small "vswp.app" mark. It's meant for checking how a swap looks before you pay. The full video is paid in Telegram Stars (⭐), and paid videos have no mark, which is one more reason to say it's AI-made in the caption yourself.

## What if the result isn't good enough to post?

Generative AI is not frame-exact editing. Likeness, hands, faces covered by objects and fast camera moves can need another take. Pressing "Create video" again makes a new take, which is a new render. If friends want their own versions, [recreating a trend with friends](/guides/recreate-a-trend-with-friends/) walks through casting a whole group. Before posting, it also helps to watch your clip the way a viewer would; the signs that give a swap away are listed in [how to spot a deepfake](/guides/how-to-spot-a-deepfake/).

## FAQ

### Do I have to label an AI video on TikTok, Reels or Shorts?

Platforms ask creators to label realistic AI content and may label or limit posts that don't. In the EU, the AI Act's deepfake disclosure rule applies from August 2026; rules differ by country.

### Will labeling my video as AI hurt its reach?

Labels are there to inform viewers, and a clearly labeled joke is still a joke. A hidden fake that gets reported or flagged is the bigger risk to your account.

### What resolution should I post?

Pick 720p when you make the video in vswp. It uploads to TikTok, Instagram and YouTube as is, and a vertical source keeps the frame filling the screen.

### Can I post a video with my friends' faces?

Only if they agreed to a public post, not just to a private chat. Show them the result first and take it down if they change their mind.

### Why was my AI video muted?

Usually because of the music: the original song is copyrighted and the platform muted or limited the post. Try adding the song from the app's music library, or use a clip whose sound you're allowed to use.
