A birthday party invitation video with AI puts the host or the birthday person into a scene that announces the party: a movie hero walking into a club, a dance trend that matches the theme, a dramatic "you're invited" moment. With [vswp](/) you pick a video from Trends or upload your own, add a clear photo of each person to swap in, and AI makes a new video while the moves, camera, lighting and sound stay as in the original. Then you add the date and the place in your phone's video editor or in the message, and send it.

## Why send an invitation as a video?

A text invitation gets read once and lost in the chat. A short video with the birthday person in a famous scene gets watched, replayed and forwarded, and it sets the mood for the party before anyone arrives. It also works as a reminder: people remember the clip where their friend stars in a film trailer more easily than a line of text.

It suits most parties: a milestone birthday, a surprise party planned by friends, a themed costume night, a small dinner, or a kid's party where the parents send the invitation.

## Invitation video ideas

| Idea | Who is in it | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| The movie entrance | The birthday person | Any party, especially a milestone birthday |
| The dance trend | The host, or the host and a friend | Club nights and dance parties |
| The theme scene | The birthday person in costume | Halloween, 80s, superhero or movie-themed parties |
| The crew is coming | Up to 6 friends | A party organized by a group of friends |
| The mysterious teaser | The host, seen briefly | A party with a secret theme or a surprise guest |

A few tips make the invitation work:

- **Match the scene to the party.** A glamorous film moment for a cocktail evening, a silly meme for a backyard barbecue, a costume scene for a theme party. Guests should guess the mood before they read the details.
- **Keep the main moment short.** One clear scene of up to 30 seconds is enough. The details come right after it.
- **Leave room for the text.** A calm shot at the end, or a few seconds where the person faces the camera, is a good place for the date and place.

The Trends library is the easiest place to start: popular videos where the people are already found. For more ideas around the day itself, see [how to make a birthday video with your friend's face in it](/guides/birthday-video-with-a-friends-face/).

## Where do the date, time and place go?

vswp doesn't add text to the video. You get an MP4 of the processed part, up to 30 seconds, with the original sound. Add the details in one of these ways:

1. **In the message.** Send the video with a short note: date, time, address and anything guests should bring or wear. This is the simplest option and keeps the details easy to copy.
2. **On top of the video.** Add a title card or captions in your phone's video editor: "Saturday, 8 pm, Ana's place". Put them at the end, so the scene plays first.
3. **Both.** Short text on the video for the mood, full details in the message, so no one has to pause the clip to read the address.

## Which photos should you use?

One sharp, recent photo of each person alone, in good light, with the whole face visible. Skip sunglasses, heavy filters and crops from group photos, where faces are small. The **Keep the original look** switch decides what comes from each photo:

- **On:** the clothes from the video stay, and only faces and hair change. A clear portrait is enough. This is the right choice for costume and movie scenes.
- **Off:** clothes, hair and silhouette come from the photo. Use a full-body photo of one person, for example in the outfit they will wear to the party. A portrait cannot show clothing it doesn't contain.

## How to make it, step by step

1. **Start a few days before you send the invitations.** The video takes minutes, but it's good to have time for another take.
2. **Sign in** at [vswp.app](/) with Telegram. There's no password, and only the person making the video needs an account.
3. **Pick the scene** from Trends or upload your own: 1 to 120 seconds, up to 150 MB, any common format, and only a video you have the right to use. For an upload, the person search runs on the first 30 seconds automatically, usually in a couple of minutes, and it's free. In a longer video you can choose another part of up to 30 seconds.
4. **Add the photos** to the cards of the people to replace, up to 6 different photos. Everyone without a photo stays as in the original.
5. **Set the look** with "Keep the original look".
6. **Check with the free preview.** If you haven't used it yet, "Make the free preview" shows about 5 seconds at 480p with a small "vswp.app" mark.
7. **Make the full video:** choose 480p or 720p, check the estimated time and the price, and press "Create the full video". Paid videos have no mark.
8. **Watch it, add the details and send it.** Download the MP4, or on a phone share it straight to Telegram or another app.

If a face doesn't look quite right, pressing "Create video" again makes a new take, which is a new render.

## Ask before you put someone in it

Ask everyone before you use their photo, including the birthday person if the invitation is not from them. For a surprise party, check with a partner or close friend whether the birthday person would enjoy it, and send the video only to the guests. For a kid's party, only the parents should make and send the video, and only with their own child's photos. Pressing "Create video" confirms you have the right to use the video and the photos; [face swap consent and safety](/guides/face-swap-consent-and-safety/) covers this in more detail. Rules differ by country, and this is not legal advice; in the EU, the AI Act's disclosure rule for deepfakes applies from August 2026, so label the video as AI-made if you post it publicly.

## How much does it cost?

The free preview costs nothing; the number of free previews per day is limited, and the app says when the next one frees up. The full video is paid in Telegram Stars (⭐). The price depends on the length, the quality and the number of people you replace, and the exact price is shown before you start. Stars are taken when a render starts and returned automatically if it fails or is canceled.

## FAQ

### Can vswp write the date and address on the video?

No. vswp doesn't add text. Put the details in the message or add them in your phone's video editor.

### Can several friends be in the invitation?

Yes. One video can use up to 6 different photos, one per person, and everyone else in the scene stays as in the original.

### How early should I make the invitation video?

A few days before you send the invitations is comfortable. The render usually takes minutes, and the extra time leaves room for another take.

### Do my guests need an account to watch it?

No. They get a normal MP4 in the chat. Only the person who makes the video signs in with Telegram.
